Firefighter tackling flames with hose

We attended an accidental house fire in Stoke-on-Trent as a result of a faulty freezer.

Crews from Hanley, Longton and Newcastle, with colleagues from Staffordshire Police, were called to an address off Trentham Road, Blurton, just after 9.15pm on Sunday (28 May).

On arrival, we found the property well-alight.

The family were alerted to the fire by their smoke alarm and evacuated safely.

Thankfully no-one was injured.

We used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and a main jet to extinguish the fire.

Following an investigation into the cause of the fire, it was deemed to be accidental as a result of a faulty freezer.

Crews left the scene at 4.50pm on Monday (29 May).
