Our latest four-year plan is published
We’ve today published our new four-year plan, called our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) which will be going live from 1 January. The plan sets out our priorities and our approach to ensuring local communities are protected.
The CRMP has been shaped by a consultation that we carried out over 12 weeks earlier this year, for which we received over 1,500 responses.
The plan leads with three overarching priorities of: our people, our communities and our environment.
Our people priority focuses on developing a diverse, healthy and highly professional workforce.
Our communities priority focuses on how we reduce the risks to our local communities from fire and other emergencies, through a combination of our prevention, protection and response activities.
Our environment priority looks at reducing our carbon footprint and building more resilient, healthy and sustainable local communities.
Chief Fire Officer, Rob Barber said: “We’re really pleased that so many people took the time to give us their views as part of the consultation. We’ve taken these comments on board and used them to shape this final plan. We have a vision of making Staffordshire the safest place to be and the input we have received is helping us to work towards that vision.
“The priorities of our people, our communities and our environment neatly capture what is important to us. Our people are our most valuable asset. The community is at the heart of everything we do. The environment is an emerging issue both in the terms of the increasing number of weather-driven incidents we are attending and also the changes we need to, and are making, to reduce our carbon footprint.”
Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime, Ben Adams said: “I’d like to thank everyone who responded to the consultation. Their views and the references to my Local Fire & Rescue Plan have contributed to a CRMP that thoroughly reflects both current and emerging risk, and community expectations of their fire and rescue service.”
As a result of the consultation there are a number of areas people have asked they wants us to focus on. These are:
- Preventing incidents happening in the first place;
- Working with vulnerable people; and
- Carrying out fire safety inspections of buildings including high rise.
