Residents evacuated after low-rise flat fire

A total of 10 residents have been evacuated from their homes following a low-rise flat fire in Stoke-on-Trent. 

Crews were called at 11.02am on Wednesday (6 April) to Tollgate Court, Trentham Road in Longton.

Fire crews conducted one rescue from a balcony and a small number of residents required treatment for smoke inhalation at the scene. 

All of the flats have sustained significant smoke and heat damage. 

The gas and electricity supply at the flats has been isolated. 

Fire crews are working with police and local authority colleagues in order to help rehome residents. 

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
